Great leaders don't just communicate—they communicate in ways that people remember, believe, and act upon.
Whether you're leading a business, nonprofit, church, team, or community initiative, your ability to communicate ideas clearly can determine whether people simply hear your message or become inspired to take action.
Join us for an engaging 8-week Leadership Mastermind as we explore **Made to Stick** by **Chip Heath & Dan Heath**, one of the most influential books ever written on effective communication. Together, we'll discover why some ideas are unforgettable while others are quickly forgotten, and learn practical strategies for making our own messages more compelling and impactful.
Each weekly session combines insightful discussion, practical application, and collaborative learning with other leaders who are committed to growing their influence. You'll leave with tools you can immediately apply to presentations, meetings, marketing, fundraising, teaching, leadership conversations, and vision casting.
Throughout the mastermind, you'll learn how to communicate ideas that are:

* **Simple** without being simplistic
* **Unexpected** enough to capture attention
* **Concrete** so people understand them
* **Credible** so people trust them
* **Emotional** so people care
* **Story-driven** so people remember and act

Whether you're pitching a business idea, leading a team meeting, presenting to a board, preaching a sermon, teaching a class, or casting vision for your organization, this mastermind will help you become a more confident and influential communicator.

Troy Ray and Katie Karcher, founders of Seasoning Bistro, will be our guest speakers.

Building a business can be exciting, rewarding, and challenging—but you don't have to do it alone. Ethos Founders Coffee exists to provide entrepreneurs with a supportive community. In this welcoming space, aspiring entrepreneurs with an idea, founders building businesses, and experienced mentors show up for one another and for what's next. Together, we connect people, encourage collaboration, and provide practical education that helps entrepreneurs build faster, lead stronger, and grow with confidence. Each month, hear the story of a successful founder from Southern Illinois, gain practical insights from their entrepreneurial journey, ask questions, and connect with others who understand the opportunities and challenges of building a business. Whether you're exploring a new idea, launching your first venture, or growing an established company, you'll find encouragement, wisdom, and meaningful relationships.

**Join us in the Ethos Community Workspace (Fourth Floor Coffee Bar) at 8:00 AM on the third Tuesday of every month, beginning August 18, for coffee, networking, collaborative learning, and entrepreneurial support.**

Interested in sponsoring a month of Founders Coffee? We'd love to partner with businesses and organizations that are passionate about supporting entrepreneurship in Southern Illinois. Contact [terra@ethosmarion.org](mailto:terra@ethosmarion.org) to learn more.

**A Two-Day Leadership Retreat for Business, Nonprofit, Church & Community Leaders**
**October 30–31, 2026**

Leadership is more demanding than ever. The pressures are real, the pace is relentless, and many leaders find themselves pouring into others while neglecting the health of their own soul.
But lasting impact doesn't begin with better strategies or greater productivity—it begins within.
**Fan the Flame 2026** is a transformational retreat designed to help leaders become healthier spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Inspired by the principles of emotionally healthy leadership and discipleship, this retreat provides the space, teaching, and community to help you slow down, reflect, and cultivate the kind of inner life that sustains a lifetime of faithful leadership.
Whether you lead a business, nonprofit, church, school, civic organization, or volunteer team, you'll leave with practical tools, renewed vision, and a personal plan for becoming a healthier leader.

## The Four Domains of a Healthy Leader

Throughout the retreat, we'll explore the four core areas that shape every leader's life and influence.
**Spiritual Health**
Deepen your relationship with God through practices that cultivate intimacy, discernment, and a leadership life rooted in Christ.
**Emotional Health**
Develop greater self-awareness, recognize unhealthy patterns, strengthen relationships, and learn to lead from authenticity rather than exhaustion.
**Mental Health**
Renew your thinking, gain clarity, and build resilient habits that help you navigate pressure, change, and decision-making with wisdom.
**Physical Health**
Discover sustainable rhythms of rest, movement, and stewardship that increase your energy and strengthen your capacity to lead well.

## Your Retreat Experience

Over two days at the beautiful Eagle's Nest at the Lake, you'll experience:

* Inspiring teaching from experienced leaders and practitioners
* Guided reflection designed for personal transformation
* Practical leadership tools you can immediately apply
* Meaningful conversations with leaders from across Southern Illinois
* Quiet spaces for prayer, renewal, and personal planning
* A peaceful retreat environment that encourages rest and restoration
* A personalized Healthy Leadership Action Plan to continue your growth after the retreat

This is more than a conference. It's an intentional investment in the one person every leader is responsible to steward well—you.

## Who Should Attend?

Fan the Flame is designed for:

* Business owners and entrepreneurs
* Executive directors and nonprofit leaders
* Pastors and ministry leaders
* School administrators and educators
